The Arboretum

While we were up north we tried to take advantage of the time to see lots of family.  We were able to catch up with a cousin at a local arboretum.  It had a very large children's area which was great.  Unfortunately, with two toddlers, getting them to play together in such a large space is like trying to herd cats.  There were mazes, rocks to climb, fountains, forts, sculptures, and all sorts of other fun things to explore, but we could only rarely get the kids to do them together.  Here's a rare snap of some time spent at a fountain.
The lilac bushes were in bloom, which was a special treat 1. because Grandma loves them so they have special meaning to us and 2. they had already bloomed down South.  I tried to get a photo of Little Miss Camera Shy in front of them to send to Grandma.

We found a nice shady spot for lunch and enjoyed some grub together before it was time to head out for the inevitable car naps.

It's so good getting to spend time with family and I'm glad that our kids are similar in age so we can find fun activities to do together while we're home.
